The History Of The Trellis Gardens

In 1906, railroad tycoon captain Jessie Parker Williams built an impressive and costly mansion on the site which Trellis Garden Inn now occupies. With the demolition of the original structure, parts of it were saved to incorporate in the new Inn. Pictures above is the magnificent five-by-ten foot, three-inch thick mahogany door which came from the stately mansion. The registration desk was constructed from the heart pine ceiling and floor joists. The Georgia Pink Marble insets came from the fireplace floors. Large mirrors which hang in the most spacious rooms are encased in heavy wood frames which were make from the lumber saved from the mansion.

Nestled within walking distance of restaurants, the business district, the public library, churches, and shopping area, stands TRELLIS GARDEN INN, a privately owned and operated establishment. The motel complex is quite different from most hotels being built today. The appearance is that of condominiums; however, the individual buildings are connected to the main structure by a Plexiglas-covered crosswalks overlooking the gardens. The décor is williamsburg, using old brick combined with décor siding and redwood decking.

Our Inn's color coordinated rooms feature the finest accommodations for your comfort and pleasure. On the upper level above the lobby entrance is a spacious redwood sundeck leading into our suite called the "Top of the Inn Suite". It offers a complete kitchen, bar, televisions with HBO and cable, plus a full bath.
